SIMPLE INSERT... what is going on?

I am new to mssql. i don't like it already...

here is my table: person

ID, fName, lName, about

here is my query: INSERT INTO person(fName, lName, about) VALUES ("bob", "hope", "1 nice dude")

when i click Execute i get the following error.

Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid column name 'bob'.
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid column name 'hope'.
Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid column name '1 nice dude'.

any ideas?
