SQL Server Management Studio 2012 freezes when adjusting options

I am using the following components with Windows 7:

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)6.1.7601.17514
Microsoft MSXML3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0 
Microsoft Internet Explorer9.11.9600.17041

My issue is that every time I try to adjust the font in the text editor, the entire program freezes I have to force close it. Is there a service pack or update I should install? (I have SP1 installed already.) How can I fix this?
