Instance login

I have only basic computer knowledge.

I've created an instance called MHS on SQL 2008 which a program of the same name requires in order to run. I'm using Win Authentication only, for the login.

When I start MHS, I get an error "Login failed for user sa". I understand that "sa" is a possible way of logging into SQL, but that it's disabled. I don't know how to enable it. Info on forums say that I can do this through Server Man Studio.

The MHS instance was shown in the registered servers, but I deleted it. I don't how to get it back. Still, both before and after this, if I select object explorer, MHS is offered for connection. But when trying to connect I get the message that I can't connect to MHS server. The server couldn't be found or isn't available. It suggests I check configuration to allow remote connections. I don't know how to do this.

I can see the server is running in the config manager.
