Hello Team,
I have two customers(C1 and C2) each have there own Volume Licensing from Microsoft.
Note: I'm speaking of SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.
Requirement:
C1--> Product Company
C2 --> Third party Tier 3 data center
1. C1 hosted infrastructure(physical Server's) in C2 data center.
2. C1 used to pay SQL server 2008 R2 Enterprise licensing cost to C2.
3. C1 purchased Volume Licensing with Microsoft.
4. C1 wants to update there SQL server License on servers hosted in C2 data center, so they need not to pay.
5. Performed edition upgrade by media downloaded from C1 Volume Licensing.
6. C2 claims associated PID post upgrade belongs to them, but ideally it should be C1.
Compared both media PID's(C1 and C2) --> x64 --> Defaultsetup.ini..Unfortunately both are same.
How Microsoft differentiate the License is by C1 or C2?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
