I am planning to use SQL server standard 2019 as a replicated db for my data which currently resides on other open source db. I am confused with the licensing options especially the cores vs. server+CAL. My clear simple requirement is to
have a single db copy of data coming from source and then I want to use this ms sql db as source for SSIS to create a datamart. So essentiallly the db will be accessed only by a few tools like ssis or ssms or any other reporting tool if required for
direct data analysis. So for this thing which option should I go for? will server +CAL thing work for me best? even after reading about CAL's its still not clear who exactly may need that and can I use it for my case? Please help.
