I can't seem to find any information on 2014 Enterprise availability? I have 2 questions I hope someone can shed some light on...
- When will SQL Server 2014 Enterprise be available for commercial purchase? We are running shy on space/resources with our existing SQL Server 2008r2 servers, and are budgeting for a new server right now. We decided to skip over SQL Server 2012 because of the limitations with the newly introduced ColumnStore technology then, whereas in evaluating 2014 Preview last week we found that it will definitely meet our needs and it's what we will want to go with. But for planning (both budgeting and operations) I need to know whether commercial availability for 2014 Enterprise is expected in Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 or not at all this year?
- Can we use SQL Server 2014 Preview to start migrating our 2008r2 Data Warehouses, databases, and start provisioning for new ETL processes and SSIS deployments? (I know of the issues with backwards incompatibility with some of the other tools we use like BIDS, SSIS, etc.. so a migration won't be overnight for us... Can we use 2014 Preview to start this process until 2014 Enterprise is available? And what issues will there be in going from Preview to Enterprise once it's commercially available? Will there be a big gap in commercial availability of 2014 and the end of the Preview making this idea not worth the time?
