Hi there,
I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong place bur I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me. I have a piece of software that I am hoping to sell to a client. Its a SQL Server database which has a web front end and allows users to add and view information on their organisation (e.g. sales leads, contact details etc).
I will be providing the client with a new server with a copy of SQL Server 2005 on it, and the server will be stored at the clients premises so the users will access my software through their local network, not via the internet.
The question I have is regard to licensing. If I buy a standard license for SQL Server 2005, do I need a CAL for every potential user, or every potential user who will be online at the same time, or have I totally misunderstood what a CAL is....?
Its hard to estimate how many users of the software there may be at any one time, could be anything from 5 - 25. So would I potentially need 25 CAL's?
Many thanks
Damien.
